About This Site
This site has evolved over the years into a collection of random stuff about myself and my interests.
Unfortunatly my focus changes quickly and things don't always get finished. I have a section dedicated
to personal information that has random photos and other tid bits of information that was
created while I was in college. My post-college pages focus on
the many versions of my resume. I have also done some
freelance web design work (other than this site of course) and if I do more I will try to keep that
updated as well. I'm not sure what else to say here because I know as soon as I upload this file my
focus will change to something else. It took me six months to remove the "Coming Soon" from this page so
if you see one on another page, don't expect it to be there the next time you visit.
About Me
I am currently working for Computer Associates Intl. as a Software Engineer. My department, all seven
members, is in charge of porting the company's eTrust Antivirus product to UNIX, Netware, and Mac OS X.
I wouldn't be surprised if you never heard of eTrust Antivirus unless it's on your computer at work. CA
focuses on enterprise solutions and eTrust Antivirus is the only managed virus solution
software out there. Managed you say? Well imagine a network administrator being able to monitor any virus
outbreak on a network comprised of thousands of computers. With a few clicks of a mouse he/she can tell all
the computers to scan their hard drives, download virus definitions, or enable/disable realtime scanning.
Anyway, its a great job (even if you think it sounds boring) and I'm gaining plenty
of experience. I work with C/C++, Java, shell scripting, and Cocoa/Objective-C on the Mac to spit out a
few buzz words.
When I'm not writing code for work I dabble in little projects here and there. I have completed
a few projects for the web using Perl, PHP, MySQL, and other technologies. I also mess around with
my Sun SparcStation10. It is running Solaris 8 now and I use it as a firewall/gateway, web server, and
Windows Primary Domain Controller.
Of course I have to make time for my fiancé! Amanda and I enjoy watching movies and reruns of "Law and Order" on TV as well as going to museums, craft fairs, car shows, and anything else that gets us out of the house. We also like just spending time outside whether its a walk around the block or a walk around downtown Boston. Basically if I'm not fiddling with one of my computers we're out doing something.
My other interests include cars, car audio, and movies. I also enjoy bicycling and skiing. You can
find information about all of this by browsing my personal section.
Well, I'm starting to get bored of this line of thought so I'll stop here. Thank you for visiting my
site and I hope you find what you're looking for!
~ Chris
